Here are
some of the essential items to include in your pet's suitcase when
moving to your new home...
*Waste scooper bags for dogs.
*Disposable litter and travel pan for cats.
*Put a leash and harness on your cat (they can easily slip out of
regular collar).
*Towels to dry your pet.
*Water and feeding dishes.
*Bedding.
*Favorite toys.
*Chew bones.
*Vaccination records (especially important if you are traveling across state lines or staying in
motels or campgrounds that require proof of vaccination).
*At least two leashes for a dog - a short leash for stops in the city, and a long
leash for rural stops.
*Medication (if required).
*Wet ones for quick clean-ups.
*First-aid kit including such things as flea powder, tweezers, antibiotic creams and
soaps, scissors. For more information on what to include in a pet
first aid kit check it out.
*Pack your pet's regular food to last for the duration of the trip.
*Bring bottle of water from home along with ice cubes to keep your pet
hydrated until you reach your destination. (water along the way
may not set right with your pet)
*Temporary ID tags to place on your pet's collar (with the address and phone number of the place you are
staying & heading to). Luggage and key tags make inexpensive
id's.
*Keep your pet in a pet seatbelt or a well-ventilated carrier. Even a well-disciplined animal
can become hyper traveling for long distances in your car.
*You never know when something might happen to prevent the
house or apartment from being ready the exact time of your
arrival, so you may have to stay a night or so in a
hotel. Make sure you keep a list of pet
friendly hotels handy so that you can find a place
to stay on your journey to your new home.
*If you will be flying with your pet, make sure you check the airline
pet policies to ensure a safe flight for your two
legged or four legged friend. |
